On July 17th, Secretary-general of World Crafts Council AISBL and Deputy Secretary-general of China Arts and Crafts Association, Ms. Chen Jing visited Ms. Ursula Neuman, Curator of Jewelry, Museum of Arts and Design in New York. As anindividual member of WCC, Ms. Neuman has been actively participating in WCC's various atctivities. She invited Ms. Chen Jing for lunch, during which they exchanged opinions on WCC board meetings, evaluation on regions featured with particular crafts and 2014 Golden Jubilee Celebration Summit.
Ms. Neuman congratulated China taking new Presidency of WCC. It's a life-time opportunity for both China and WCC. With long history of arts and crafts and profound culture, Chinese arts and crafts have always been popular among great museums. Therefore, introducing Chinese arts and crafts as new president has made up the world's lack of knowledge of Chinese crafts. China's rapid development of economy has provided the worlds crafts with an excellent opportunity.
New York, the origin of WCC, is the place where Mrs. Weber started her pioneering achievement. WCC has united world craftsmen, promoted their international status. Therefore, for craftsmen New York is a city with special meaning. Ms. Chen Jing hoped that American craftspeople could inherit and develop the tradition and more positively participate in WCC's activities. She also hoped that in 2014 American crafts could be shown on the Golden Jubilee Celebration Summit.
