Entrusted by UNESCO, Mr. Wang Shan, Vice President and Secretary-general and Ms. Chen Jing, Deputy Secretary-general of China Arts and Crafts Association attended Santa Fe International Folk Art Market in New Mexico, USA from July 11th to 14th and joined the sales activities of Award of Excellence for Handicrafts East Asia Program. Ms. Beatrice Kaldun, on behalf of UNESCO, has also participated in the activity.
This year, hunderds of craftsmen from more than 50 countries joined the Market. Most of them have suffered in privation. This activity has great effect on the protection of the arts and crafts.Awarded products from Guizhou, Guangxi, Yunnan, Beijing were exhibited in the booth of UNESCO. These products were too popular and were sold out even before the end of the exhibition .Local people of New Mexico have showed the great interest in the embroidery fans , batiks, and the paper-cut lamps.
Chinese delegation was entertained by the committee of the Market. Both parties expressed their willingness to cooperate for a long time in the future.
